Comparing Siargao Tour Quotes: How to Calculate the Real Total Cost

Comparing Siargao Tour Quotes: How to Calculate the Real Total Cost

A lower advertised price does not always mean a cheaper day out in Siargao. One quote may include hotel transfers, lunch and entrance fees, while another leaves those costs for you to pay separately.

To compare Siargao tour prices, calculate what your whole group will pay for the same itinerary and services:

Group total = base quote + required costs not included + extras you choose.

If a charge is unconfirmed, mark it as unknown rather than entering zero.

The examples below use reference prices documented in our Siargao guides, not newly obtained operator quotes or guaranteed current rates. Confirm prices and inclusions for your travel date before booking.

Check the Itinerary and Price Unit First

Make sure both quotes cover the same travel date, participants, destinations, pickup location and services you need.

A Sugba-only boat is not the same purchase as a route that adds Kawhagan. Likewise, a port departure does not include the same transportation as pickup from your General Luna accommodation.

For trips such as Sohoton Cove, check the exact itinerary and any stops subject to access conditions before comparing prices.

Per-Person Quotes

Base total = applicable price per person × participants.

If different rates apply to members of your group, calculate each separately and add them together.

Per-Boat or Per-Group Quotes

Base boat cost = price per boat × boats required.

Confirm how many boats your group needs. A boat quote does not automatically cover passenger fees, food or travel to the departure point.

For a quote covering the whole group, use the amount once. Do not multiply it by the number of travelers.

Private Tours With Group-Size Pricing

“Private” does not necessarily mean one fixed price for the group. Some operators quote a per-person rate that changes with the number of participants.

The private South Siargao example in our land tour guide works this way. Use the rate for your actual group size, and request a revised quote if someone drops out.

Identify What You Still Need to Pay

Mark each relevant item as included, extra, unconfirmed or not needed.

StatusWhat to do
IncludedDo not add it again.
ExtraRecord the amount and charging unit.
UnconfirmedAsk before treating your total as complete.
Not neededLeave it out.

Our Siargao island-hopping guide describes joiner packages that may include boat transport, lunch, entrance and docking fees, tourism or environmental fees, life jackets, and General Luna hotel transfers. Your quote still needs to specify which of these it covers.

For DIY trips, there are more separate payments to check. The Sugba Lagoon guide identifies possible visitor fees, additional-stop charges and equipment rentals beyond the boat price.

Before calculating, check:

  • Transfers: Does pickup and drop-off cover your accommodation?
  • Fees: Are entrance, environmental, terminal and docking charges included?
  • Guides and activities: Which activities does the quoted price cover?
  • Food: Is lunch included? What about water and other drinks?
  • Equipment: Are the items you need provided or rented separately?

Photographed in person at Cloud 9, this sign displays an entrance fee of PHP 100.00. If Cloud 9 is on your itinerary, ask whether your tour quote includes admission before adding it as a separate cost.

For land tours, ask about the Maasin boat ride and Tayangban guide fee if you plan to include them. For a private island-hopping lunch, separate ingredient purchases, cooking charges, and any table or cottage charges.

Calculate the Group Total

Convert the base quote into a group amount, then add the required extras and optional activities you have chosen.

Use the correct unit for each charge:

  • Per-person fees × applicable participants.
  • Equipment rental × number of items × rental periods.
  • Cooking charges per kilogram × applicable weight.

Keep activities selected by only some travelers separate unless everyone agrees to share the cost.

If you split the completed total equally:

Cost per person = group total ÷ people sharing the cost.

For a DIY land trip, remember that motorbike rental alone does not cover fuel, entrance fees, activities or food. Our Siargao trip cost guide provides background for those expenses; use your actual arrangements in the calculation.

When an amount is missing, show “known subtotal + unconfirmed costs.” Do not present it as the final price.

Three Worked Examples

Example 1: ₱1,200 vs ₱1,500 for a Joiner Tour

Our island-hopping guide records approximately ₱1,200–₱1,500 per person for joiner Tri-Island tours, including all-inclusive examples around ₱1,500.

Suppose you receive two quotes for the same itinerary:

  • Quote A: ₱1,200 per person, with some required items excluded.
  • Quote B: ₱1,500 per person, with everything needed for this comparison confirmed as included.

These are calculation scenarios using documented prices, not two newly checked operator offers.

TravelersA: base totalB: base totalDifference
1₱1,200₱1,500₱300
2₱2,400₱3,000₱600
4₱4,800₱6,000₱1,200

For two travelers, A starts ₱600 cheaper. If the missing transfers, lunch and fees needed to match B exceed ₱600 for the group, A becomes more expensive. At ₱600, the totals are equal.

Ask for those missing amounts rather than guessing them. If B also excludes something you need, add it to B before comparing.

Example 2: Sharing a ₱2,150 Sugba Lagoon Boat

Our Sugba Lagoon guide lists approximately ₱2,150 per boat for the Sugba-only route.

Assuming your group can use one boat at that reference price:

TravelersGroup boat costBoat share per person
1₱2,150₱2,150
2₱2,150₱1,075
4₱2,150₱537.50

For four travelers, ₱537.50 is only the boat share. The day’s calculation is:

₱2,150 + return travel to Del Carmen + applicable separate fees + food and chosen extras.

The existing guide does not establish a complete, fixed amount for those additional expenses, so we cannot turn this into a confirmed day-trip total.

Before comparing it with a package from General Luna, add the road transfers and other services that the package covers.

Example 3: Private Land Tour Pricing for Different Group Sizes

Our land tour guide records the following private South Siargao example:

TravelersRate per personGroup base total
1₱5,950₱5,950
2₱3,265₱6,530
4₱1,925₱7,700

For four travelers, the calculation is:

₱1,925 × 4 = ₱7,700.

Do not divide the solo price of ₱5,950 by four. It is not quoted as a fixed vehicle price.

Here, the per-person rate falls as the group grows, but the group’s total payment rises. These are base amounts; check the inclusions before treating them as the full expense.

Compare Your Two Quotes

Keep each operator’s message or screenshot and the date you received it. Compare the same travel date, group size, route and pickup location, and confirm whether each quote is for a joiner or private tour.

For each quote, convert the advertised rate into a group base amount using its stated price unit. Check return transfers, entrance and other fees, guides and activities, lunch and water, and any extras you want. Record each as included, a confirmed extra amount, unconfirmed, or not needed.

Add only confirmed extra charges to the base amount. If any required charge is still unknown, label the result a known subtotal, not a final price. Ask the operator to resolve those costs before comparing final group totals and per-person shares.

Then weigh the service differences: the lowest total may not be your preferred option if another arrangement better suits your group.

Confirm the Deposit, Balance and Cash Payments

A deposit credited toward the quoted total is part of the payment, not another expense.

Remaining operator balance = operator total − credited deposit.

Keep separate payments to ports, attractions or rental providers outside that operator balance. Record who receives each payment and whether cash is required.

Our money guide for Siargao explains why you should confirm payment methods before the trip. Paying for the package electronically does not mean every separate charge can be paid the same way.

Send the operator a message like this:

We are [number of travelers] traveling on [date], with pickup and drop-off at [location]. Please confirm the total for our group, whether the price is per person or per group, and the exact itinerary. What is included, and what additional charges must we pay? Please give the amount and charging unit for each extra. We would also like [selected extras]. Is the deposit deducted from the total, what balance remains, and which payments require cash?

Keep emergency cash separate from the calculated trip cost—it is money available if needed, not money already spent.

Before paying, make sure you know the group total, anything still unconfirmed, and what remains payable on the day.
